The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who celebrated their first wedding anniversary on Sunday, can look forward to another happy year… at least according to Princess Diana’s former astrologist Penny Thornton.

“You couldn’t have put the astrological symbols in a better place,” Thornton told People magazine. “They even have the sun/moon tie up. It’s classic symmetry.”

Kate, born on January 9, 1982, is a Capricorn, while William, born on June 21, 1982, is a Cancer.

Thornton, who says she has worked everywhere from the Royal Opera House to the tabloid world of Rupert Murdoch, expects Middleton to play an immense role in restoring the royal family image during the upcoming year.

“It’s all about re-establishing the popularity of the monarchy and they will continue with that,” Thornton revealed. “She might not have been born royal, but she is what the royal family needs and she is the great hope for the monarchy.”

“She has self-discipline and real empathy with people,” the astrologist said of Middleton. “When things are difficult, she steps right up to the plate – she’s got a wonderful temperament and her moon in Cancer gives her an instinctive connection with people.”

Thornton also believes this will be an important 12 months for William, who shares a zodiac sign with his late mother.

“He wants to make it relevant to the people, in many ways echoing the spirit of his mother,” she said.

As for the question on everyone’s mind… Thornton can’t answer exactly when Will and Kate will have a baby, but she does know they will make excellent parents.

“They will eventually have a family but it will be a surprise for them. But she is very maternal and they’ll make good parents when it happens,” she revealed.
