Romney Adviser: Santorum Will ‘Whine Like Crazy’ About Strategy

Having effectively neutralized Newt Gingrich in the Florida primary, it appears that Mitt Romney’s cash-laden campaign machine is turning its attention to Rick Santorum.

The former Pennsylvania senator first irked Romney when Iowa’s Republican leaders announced that Santorum won the caucus – days after Romney had declared victory.

Romney brushed it off as a virtual tie, but Santorum was quick to celebrate the belated win.

Now, with Santorum’s surging poll numbers and his recent wins in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri, Romney and his supporters are unleashing what one adviser described to BuzzFeed.com as a two-front attack.

In an interview published Feb. 14, the adviser described Santorum as a “blank slate” and “the last anti-Romney.”

According to BuzzFeed, the Romney campaign wants to fill in that blank slate for voters, introducing Santorum as both inexperienced and as a Washington insider who voted for increasing the federal debt limit.

Apparently, they also expect this strategy to get under Santorum’s skin.

“The expectation is that Santorum, just given his personality, is going to whine like crazy about this,” the adviser told BuzzFeed.
