Olympic trailblazer Campbell dies

Milt Campbell, the first black athlete to win the Olympic decathlon, died on Friday.
He was 78.
Campbell won the decathlon in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia, four years after finishing second in the event in the 1952 Helsinki Games. He played football at Indiana University and had a brief career in the NFL, playing one season with the Cleveland Browns.
Campbell, a native of New Jersey, was inducted into the state’s hall of fame in 2012.
