Former NFL running back Larry Johnson was arrested in Las Vegas early Friday morning on suspicion of domestic battery, FOXSports.com has learned.

Johnson, who spent most of his nine NFL seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, is accused of choking, according to the booking document at the Clark County Detention Center. His bail is set at $15,000 and he was still in custody as of noon PT.

A hearing has been scheduled for Saturday morning.

A source with knowledge of the arrest said the incident occurred on the property of the Bellagio Hotel and Casino.

Johnson, 32, had multiple arrests during his football career, which ended after just one game with the Miami Dolphins last season. The most recent led to guilty plea in 2009 to two counts of disturbing the peace for incidents in a Kansas City nightclub, which included shoving a woman and spitting drink on another. He was sentenced to two years probation and was ordered to undergo anger management counseling.

Johnson, who rushed for 2,087 yards in his final year at Penn State in 2002, was drafted in the first round (27th overall) by the Chiefs in 2003. He had two seasons where he rushed for more than 1,000 yards in the NFL (1,750 yards in 2005 and 1,789 in 2006), exploits that led to a contract extension after a brief holdout that included $19 million guaranteed.

Johnson, however, never came near those career years and eventually had brief stints with Cincinnati, Washington and, finally, Miami.
