The son of NBA legend Larry Bird was arrested on Sunday at Indiana University, according to multiple reports.
Connor Bird, 21, allegedly tried to hit his ex-girlfriend with a car and now faces multiple preliminary charges of battery with injury, criminal mischief, intimidation with a deadly weapon and possession of marijuana.
"It is a private matter we are hoping to resolve as quickly as possible," said Connor Bird's attorney, John Tompkins, in a statement. "We are happy no one was seriously hurt."
Connor Bird and his ex-girlfriend reportedly got into an argument at his Bloomington apartment, where he allegedly threw a cell phone at her.
He then reportedly went to the alleged victim's home and waited for her arrival. After the two sat in Connor Bird's car in an Indiana University parking lot, police told the Indianapolis Star that another argument ensued. The woman got out of the car to walk home before Connor Bird allegedly tried to hit her with his car twice.
Bird was reportedly taken to the Monroe County Jail after being arrested on campus.
