Modern Family looks very similar in Iran. Sort of.

A YouTube edit featuring Modern Family and the Iranian show Haft Sang made the rounds on the Internet, with the IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting) version missing a key part of the Modern Family US viewers have come to know and love: the gay couple. Cam ( Eric Stonestreet) and Mitch ( Jesse Tyler Ferguson) have been turned into a straight couple. However, those aren't the only changes to the popular sitcom.

NEWS: Which TV fandom is the best?

According to Salon , only two episodes of Haft Sang have aired in Iran and they were pretty much exact copies of the first two episodes of Modern Family. But along with the exclusion of the gay couple, there are some other tweaks as well. Aside from the names, Phil ( Ty Burrell) and Claire ( Julie Bowen) are Mohsen and Lelia, the Haley ( Sarah Hyland) character is now a teenaged boy named Amir. As seen in the video above, the character that was Haley's boyfriend Dylan ( Reid Ewing) is now Amir's friend Anoush.

While the legality of this Modern Family take is in question, foreign adaptations of shows are nothing new. Everybody Loves Raymond got a Russian version—and a documentary movie based on adapting it, The Golden Girls has gotten new versions in Russia, Israel, Greece , Turkey and Spain and The O.C. recently got a Turkish adaptation .
