Comcast Remote DVR Manager Step by Step Help

One DVR / Multiple DVRs

If your household account has just one Comcast DVR you can begin scheduling recordings using Remote DVR Manager at rdvr.comcast.net. See Section A, "Program a Remote DVR Manager Recording for One DVR."

If you have multiple Comcast DVRs you will need to initiate your Comcast Remote DVR Manager access for each DVR from each TV. This is because each DVR will require a unique ID, enabling you to use the remote access to specify which DVR should record which programs. See Section B, "Set Up Comcast Remote DVR Manager for Multiple DVRs."

Section A: Program a Remote DVR Manager Recording for One DVR

From any computer with Internet access:

  1. Go to rdvr.comcast.net. If you are not already logged in, enter your ZIP code and choose your location and cable type.
  2. You can log in at any point using the link at the top right of the page, or you will be prompted to log in when scheduling a recording.
  3. Select a program from the TVplanner grid by clicking on its title and, from its program information screen, select DVR It.
  4. If this is a one-time program, choose Record this show.
  5. If this program is a series, you will be asked whether you want to record this episode only or all episodes in the series. Choose Record this episode if you choose to only record one episode of the program. Alternately, choose Record all episodes in this series to set up a Series Recording. By clicking the Options links, you can change how long a recording is saved (i.e., until space is needed), whether to start and stop the recording on time or add to the recording time. When your options are set, click OK - record with these Options.
  6. You will see a confirmation screen to let you know that the recording was sent to your DVR.

Section B: Set Up Comcast Remote DVR Manager for Multiple DVRs

There are two components to the setup process for initiating Comcast Remote DVR Manager when you have two or more Comcast DVRs in your home. You will need to be in front of each of your Comcast DVRs/TVs to set up the television portion, and on a computer with Internet access to set up the online portion.

From your television with Comcast DVR:

  1. Press Menu on your remote twice to access the Main Menu.
  2. Select Setup.
  3. Select Anywhere Access Setup.
  4. Select Begin Setup.
  5. On the next screen you will be presented with a unique access code that will enable you to continue your registration online. Make a note of the code because you will have to enter it online prior to the expiration date.
  6. Do this from each of your DVRs in your household, as each will have a unique access code. Make note of each one, and in which room they reside. Be sure to complete the subsequent steps before the expiration date presented on screen.

Complete your Remote DVR Manager setup online:

  1. Go to rdvr.comcast.net and log in, entering your ZIP code, location and cable type, if you are not already logged in.
  2. Select a program from the TVplanner grid by clicking on the title and, from its program information screen, select DVR It.
  3. On the next screen, in the bottom right corner next to the words Record to, click the pull-down menu and choose one of the options that say To setup another DVR. You will have as many options as you do DVRs on your household account; i.e., if you have two DVRs this phrase will appear twice.
  4. Click on one of the options To setup another DVR. When asked, please enter the access code for the DVR on which you want to record this program, and create a name you will easily remember, such as "Living Room DVR."
  5. When you are done naming your DVR select Record this episode (or Record this program, as appropriate), to complete set up of that recording.
  6. To set up additional DVRs, choose another program from TVplanner and select DVR It.
  7. The Record to option should now show the DVR you just set up ("Living Room DVR" or whatever name you choose) and one or more To setup another DVR options, depending on how many additional DVRs you have. Select To setup another DVR and repeat the process of entering a new access code, and complete by again selecting Record this episode or similar.

Once your DVRs are initiated and access codes accepted, you will not have to reenter this information. When you log in to rdvr.comcast.net and select DVR It on any program, you will have the option to choose which DVR on your account you wish to access.

  1. Select a program from the TVplanner grid by clicking on its title and, from its program information screen, select DVR It.
  2. Select to which DVR you want to record by selecting the appropriate name from the drop-down list in the lower-right corner.
  3. If this is a one-time program, choose Record this program.
  4. If this program is a series, you will be asked whether you want to record this episode only or all episodes in the series. Choose Record this episode if you choose to record only one episode of the program. Alternately, choose Record all episodes in this series to set up a Series Recording. By clicking the Options links, you can change how long a recording is saved (i.e., until space is needed), whether to start and stop the recording on time or add to the recording time. When your options are set, click OK - record with these Options.
  5. You will see a confirmation screen to let you know that the recording was sent to your DVR.

To Discontinue Remote DVR Manager

  1. Press Menu on your remote twice to access the Main Menu.
  2. Select Setup
  3. Select Anywhere Access Setup.
  4. If Remote DVR Manager is currently active, the menu will display an option for Cancel Service. (If the screen displays an access code, that means service is currently inactive.)
  5. Select Cancel this service to confirm.
  6. You will receive a confirmation screen that your Comcast Remote DVR Manager has been deactivated.

To reactivate your Comcast Remote DVR Manager in the future, please refer to sections A and B, above.
